History's beauties-Cleopatra, Monalisa, Helen of Troy etc.

Who is the prettiest among the history's beautiful females ?

History had a fair share of pretty ladies. To name a few, Cleopatra, Monalisa, Helen of Troy etc.

And ,in the modern times, we had Marilyn Monroe, Liz Taylor, Audrey Hepburn, Ursula Andress etc.

In what way ,were these females considered beautiful- was it Cleo's nose, Helen's face and Monalisa's eyes-those sad, soulful eyes ?

Or coming to our times, was it Monroe's seductivenes, Hepburn's cool charms or Liz's sexyness, or Ursula's sizzling oomph ?

What do these beauties have in common, who do you think is the prettiest among them, and why ?

Well, they say that symmetry is a universal perception of beauty. With Cleopatra, judging from a picture of her on an old coin, she certainly was not an Elizabeth Taylor look-alike. With all of the hollywood starlets, you chose those who were type-casted as, well, the beautiful women that they were. Not just that, but that a certain look brought on a certain type of character, and vice-versa (I visualize the style of hair, clothes, etc). As far as "the prettiest" goes, I wouldn't know. As far as what they all have in common, part of it is most definitely hype. What they have in common are great legacies. You can read an epic or memoir, look at a picture, watch a movie, and it is frozen in time and space, allowing you to expand their character in your imagination.

I think to truly appreciate beauty in a person is be in their presence. I pass strangers that are very attractive, not just from genetics, but from their presence, their sensitivity to the world while being grounded in their own sense of being...you can just feel a person's energy that doesn't come from their superficial presentation.

(also, sort of irrelevent, but I always thought that Mona Lisa's eyes "smiled" more than her mouth)

Yes nice post..... I like best about that part of 'their sensitivity to the world'. Yes beauty indeed lies in the eyes of the beholder (as well as the holder, I suppose). Yeah what they all had in common is hype, how true-many beauties of the world have just gone unnoticed, unrecognized and unappreciated, as they never got the exposure due to their unreached settings.
